Given our location at the gateway to one of Australia’s busiest sea ports, a steady stream of cruise, cargo, passenger and navy ships sail past past every day.

A pilot vessel is often seen engaging with these vessels to transfer sea pilots to and from the ships to navigate them through ‘the rip’ – the notoriously treacherous entrance to Port Phillip Bay.

You can watch this passing parade free of charge from the many piers and lookouts of Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale!
