Visit the Queenscliff Lighthouse

A casual 15 minute stroll down Hesse Street, follow the main street as if you’re going to Geelong, keep walking past the Bowls Club and Fort towards the carpark, you’ll see the lighthouse on your left.

This area is also fantastic for swimming.

Take a tour of The Queenscliff Fort

Built in 1860 on Shortland’s Bluff the fort was established to defend the entrance to Port Phillip. The fort conducts tours Monday to Sunday and 11am with an additional tour at 1:45pm on Saturday and Sunday. We recommend phoning the fort to ensure the daily tour is going ahead on (03) 5258 1488

to avoid disappointment.

Put on your dancing shoes and jump on The Blues Train

Running every Friday and Saturday (with the exception of a winter break) the heritage train highlights four bands and includes a yummy buffet dinner. Pre-purchased tickets essential.

An award winning restaurant that travels along the historic railway between Drysdale and Queenscliff this is a one of a kind experience not to be missed! Departing from Drysdale or Queenscliff you will enjoy a scenic train trip while enjoying a full degustation menu, beverage pairing also available. 

Enjoy the view from the Queenscliff Harbour Tower

Visit the Queenscliff Harbour to enjoy some retail therapy, a coffee or lunch and climb the stairs (or take the lift) up to the tower for beautiful 360 degree views of Queenscliff.

The tower is free to visit, to enter follow the signs inside the door at 360Q restaurant.

Day trip over to Sorrento

Searoad Ferries will take you across the bay in style! The ferry departs from Queenscliff on the hour, every hour, 365 days a year. Sorrento is a lovely beachside town with many boutique retail outlets, restaurants, cafes and beautiful views. The ferry caters for foot passengers and cars, if you decide to take your car on board why not visit the Peninsula Hot Springs? The Springs are a 15 minute drive from the ferry terminal, open 7 days a week.

Visit the Queenscliff Museums

Queenscliff boasts two amazing museums that are filled with fascinating information on our lovely small town. The Queenscliff Historical Museum is located next door to the post office and offers a wealth of items illustrating and documenting the history of the townships of Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale back to the earliest times. The Queenscliff Maritime Museum is located by the entrance to the harbour precinct where you can discover the long maritime heritage of our town.

Walk the Queenscliff Pier

One of the most photographed scenes in Queenscliff is our famous pier. Watch fisherman catch all kinds of fish and squid, you might also spot some local wildlife from birds to seals, dolphins and whales! Also a popular spot to watch the large container ships and the Spirit of Tasmania.

Visit the Art Galleries

We are very fortunate in Queenscliff to have three incredible

Art Galleries, all showcasing amazing works from local, national and international artists. They

include:

Queenscliff Gallery and Workshop: Located on the corner of Hesse and Stokes street this converted church is not to be missed. 

Salt Contemporary Art Gallery: Established in 2004, Salt Contemporary Art exhibits the works of Contemporary Australian Painters, Sculptors and Ceramicists. Housed in a historically significant former drapery store, the gallery offers two spacious levels of exhibition space a private client viewing room and stunning water views.

Seaview Gallery: Since 1988, Seaview Gallery has been a renowned gallery. It is known for the diversity and quality of its contemporary and traditional Australian paintings, studio glass, sculpture and jewellery. Seaview represents over 40 quality Australian artists, including Emma Hack, Sara Paxton, David Hobday, Robert Holcombe and many more.

Walk or Bike the Bellarine Rail Trail

The rail trail stretches 32.5 kilometres between South Geelong and Queenscliff taking you through some beautiful towns along the way. Bike hire can be arranged. Athelstane House has also partnered with Bike Bellarine who conduct self-guided tours of the trail.

Swim with the Dolphins and Seals in the Bay

Leaving Queenscliff twice daily during the warmer months, Sea All Dolphin Swims conducts tours within the southern reaches of Port Phillip Bay. Available for adults and children you can also jump on

the boat for sightseeing.
